The Cutest Outfit You Could Find!

By now y’all know that I have an obsession with Taralynn’s, right? If you don’t – welcome to the blog!!

As soon as I put this shirt on, I knew it was love. I wore it the next day actually 🙂 My mom and my sister were swooning over it as well. The top of the shirt is a cut-out, if you can’t tell. I do have to wear a strapless bra, but I don’t mind because i’ve already gotten so many compliments on it! This is Chinese sizing, so it runs small. I have on a medium for size reference.

Saturday afternoon I went down to the trails in my neighborhood to snap some pictures in my new outfit. After weeks of rain here in Texas, everything is turning green and getting pretty! Not only was the weather amazing – I was looking comfortable, cute, and classy!

I wore the shirt to work on casual Friday a couple weeks ago and loved this pairing also. The shirt is white, so obviously you can put it with any color. Kylie – It’s now listed on her site. Snag it!

This skort is so unique. I haven’t seen anything like it before, why is probably why I was so drawn to it. This also runs small and i’m wearing a medium.

I love my fedora and wanted to throw it on for a little something extra. I definitely see myself picking it out for a summer night out. Or maybe a spring night with some girlfriends?

I know, I know. Not a flattering picture. But I want to show you that you could throw a pop of pink with the outfit and still look stylish!

February Pin-Spired: Florallujah

Today i’m linking up with Shay at Mix and Match Mama, Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To, and Mel at The Larson Lingo for their monthly Pin-Spired. It’s where you find stuff that you like on Pinterest and try to re-create it yourself. Make sure you reading the exciting news (x2) at the bottom!

If you’re an avid reader of Colors of Life, first… thank you! you rock! But second, hopefully you saw my God Made Girls post and would’ve seen fabulous sweatshirts from Taralynn’s. I saw a lot of floral pieces on Pinterest (I think a lot of people are getting ready for the spring) and knew I had to post my Florallujah post this Pin-Spired holiday.

I’ll be completely honest and tell you that when I opened the package that held this shirt I thought to myself “oh gosh, i’m going to look like a window treatment” thanks to my interior designing mom i’m verrrrry familiar with floral window treatments. HOWEVER, I tried them on and they were super fabulous. Super fabulous.

I really liked that these shirts were outside my normal “go-to” style. This particular one comes in grey and white.

This shirt is flattering tucked in or left out. With sleeves rolled up or sleeves left down. It’s versatile to your own style. (Ohhh, I like that saying) Someone make me a cute graphic for that 😉

I could not decide which one I liked better between the two! I guess it would probably just depend on the occasion that I was wearing the shirt. To me, the grey is more of a wintery/darker look and the white is a spring look. Either can be worn to the office as well.

  

I paired this grey version with my red pants and threw this crotchet vest over it. Also..this vest is ONLY $7 right now. I’ve gotten my use out of it that i’m sure this is not the first time you’ve come across it on the blog. And it’s not in stores anymore, just online only!!! It definitely adds the needed flair to any outfit.

Office……Decorated

As you may have read, I recently got a new job, you know the big girl kind where you have your own office and everything 🙂 One thing I have been most excited about was having to decorate the office.

Some girls dream of being dancers, some veterinarians, some athletes, but not I. I was the one who always dreamed of putting on her pant suit and going into the nicely decorated office every morning. When I was little I used to always see the moms that came to their kids’ games in their work clothes and heels and thought, “That’s what I want to do someday.” Well, that someday came faster than I thought. I’m SO glad it did. I’ll post about my job another time, but today it’s all about the decoration!!

I’ll show you a before and after picture of each of my four walls, but let me just start you off with these pictures right here. Yes, that is an entire shopping cart full of decorations that I bought…overflowing…in pouring rain….from a cashier that was hating me….and a rooster laying on top. #ilovedecorating

Of course as soon as you get home you have to take it all out and lay it in the middle of the family room to look over, review, plot, and plan.

It’s taken a while to finally get it finished. One of my January goals was to have it done before school started last week, but that didn’t happen. I didn’t have it planned out. Our companies police is that maintenance has to come hang it up, so after we put in the work order we’ve got to wait on that. Well, they came Monday! Are you ready??

When you’re walking into my office this is directly what you see.

Just looking at this picture makes it feel so much more home-y and welcoming. I wanted my office to describe me, so on the left of that shelf above my monitors is a baseball canvas and i’m taking a Red Sox cap to hang off the end. REPRESENT! Then i’ll put a picture of my pops and I in the red, white, and blue frame next to it.

The rooster in the right hand corner-first of all is just pretty, but second of all reminds me of my momma. She has roosters all over our house and when I saw it I knew that I needed one in my office! I brought a little bit of home to work.

This is the wall I look at when i’m sitting at my desk.

And I added this cute, metal leaf piece of art. I think i’ll get some frames that match the brown in the leaf to put up on the wall with it. The baskets will probably be used for newsletters, employee packets, or something of that nature. Notice how i’ve had iced tea on my desk during both of these picture taking events. Sweet tea for life! And yes that’s chocolate on my desk, because everyone needs chocolate every day!

If you haven’t been able to tell yet, my two favorite colors are yellow and grey. I love them together (shout-out to em jow right now) and knew I wanted it in my office. I thought it would be a lot more inviting and subtle versus having bright colors in your face…you know what I mean???

And this is the wall that my back is facing, however this what employees look directly at when they are in my office.

After:

I love it! I put a pillow for my back and i’ve got it all perfectly fit for me and where I like my things. Next on the to do list is pictures put in their frames and adding the finishing touches so i’ll be good to go!

Thanks for coming to work with me this morning! At least you didn’t have to waste gas getting there 😉

Friday Favorites: Because I Can

Mornin’ friends. We made it through the first week of 2015. 51 weeks until it’s 2016. AHHHHH! We’re going to blink and it’ll be December again. But we don’t have time to think about that right now because i’m linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals, Erika at A Little Bit Of Everything, and Narci at Grace and Love blog for Friday Favorites.

Friday morning I babysat for these three sweet kids. Their parents went to Vegas for the weekend to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday. I went over there at 8:00am and we watched tv to wake us up. I took them (in the pouring rain no less) to Urban Air to jump on the trampolines for two hours and while we were there I let them have ice-cream & chocolate…yes, early in the morning. Yes, because I can 😉 #bestbabysitter. We grabbed lunch at Subway and then made puzzles until their grandma came over to stay with them the rest of the weekend. It was fun. I always enjoy these crazies.

Saturday night Em 1‘s mom and her boyfriend wanted their kids + significant others to meet. So, I was her little brothers +1. Just kidding, I went because I was invited. We ate BBQ, beans, and there was Mac ‘n Cheese and SWEET TEA! I’m kinda mad at her momma for not making puppy chow. (Don’t worry she knows i’m mad at her) After dinner we all played Scattergories and Em and I KILLED IT! Why? Because we can!!! That’s what you get when you’re the only team with all girls.

Sunday funday with my family. Around 7:30 Ryan came in my room to wake me up so I could go to Starbucks with him and my dad. Look at me drinking that hot coffee again! Ryan was allowed to get a Venti because he got up. I however, obviously didn’t shake on that deal.

Later that morning, Ryan, Morgan and I went to see Annie in theaters. Our consensus: Morgan and I didn’t like it and we thought that it doesn’t compare to the old Annie. Probably because we grew up watching that version. However, Ry not having seen any of them really liked this Annie. He’s younger too so maybe that plays into it a little bit. Have you seen it yet? Are you on me and Morg’s side? Or Ry’s?

I was selfie ready for work bright and early Monday morning. I was bundled up in my scarf and peacoat why???????? No. Wrong. It’s not because I can. It’s because it was like -12 with a windchill of -12 so that’s probably -24, right? It’s a good thing i’m not a meteorology major. I was ready to hit the office for some good old fashioned adult-like working’. Growing up is hard to do, man. or woman. whoever you are 😉

Because classes don’t start until Monday, I worked every day this week. Normally i’ll be at school Tuesday/Thursday. We didn’t know we were going to have to work late Tuesday until about 1:00, so I went on a coffee run to the Starbucks downstairs for the three of us in HR. I’ve noticed that with 2 jobs, a social life, school, and what not that my phone is buzzing and alerting me 24/7. How on Earth do people live without phones these days?

Yesterday my boss gave me the day off of work so I ran around with mom, because I could. While we were at the mall, I had to stop at Starbucks and get some hot coffee. Who am I?? Starbucks? Hot coffee?

Then we went to Hobbs because we were looking for lamps and mirrors for my dad’s new office, so I snapped a selfie because I can. And then mom gave me the look. But it’s fine.

Next time I talk to you, my friends, i’ll be ANOTHER YEAR OLDER. Cue the tears. Birthdays are bittersweet. However, I will accept gift cards and money, you know, to make me feel better about getting old.

Friday Favorites: All over the place

Wow, this week has been crazy and i’m glad it’s Friday!

I’m joining in with Erika, Narci, and Andrea for Friday Favorites this morning.

Friday, Emily and her family invited me to go to her little brother’s playoff football game at SMU’s stadium. Sadly, they lost right before they would have gone to state. But on the bright side, I got these pictures with Em and her mom bought me a book. #winning The Jowers’ clan are quickly becoming one of my favorite families!

Saturday I shopped for my angel tree gifts, which is one of my favorite things to do around the holiday season. One of our past managers at the restaurant I work at got cancer and passed away. He had three kids and his wife and our restaurant decided that this year his family would substitute as our angel tree gifts this year. So i grabbed some cute shirts and a necklace for three girls. But then found out it’s two girls and a boy…so I returned one the other day and got a boy’s plaid shirt.

Sunday morning our favorite elf, Fritz was found making a Naughty and Nice list….i’ll be posting where he was all season long coming up. However, it looks like none of us were very nice this year. Uh oh 😉

This is my last week of nannying due to my new job. I’m super sad to leave these kiddos. Monday night their parents had some friends over, so they asked me to take them to get dinner and they all wanted their favorite greasy food. CANES! And they ate their delicious looking gluten right in front of me. 😦 We recorded a video, laughed, and all sorts of goofiness happened. They started with 12 chicken fingers and only left with four. #domination

Tuesday morning was my first day at the office. Confession: I feel super special saying “I’m going into the office” and that i’m wearing a badge. So here are my ever famous pictures/selfies from the day. Yes, I was the loser to take a picture and no, I do not care that I might be considered a nerd for that! And i’m sure this is going to be your favorite part of the post 😉

Wednesday started off with me watching Miss. Daisy again. Ryan loves to go over with me and play with Daisy, so he begged my mom to let him come. He got to and in the process got $5 for Mcdonald’s for dinner. Homeboy put away that 20 piece nugget and Dr. Pepper. Fast food is his favorite thing, you can read that on his MMP post.

So yesterday seriously stunk. Other than work that morning–that was good. But the rest of the day was long and tiring and every other possible horrible adjective you can think of. After waking up at 6:00, working all day, checking on Miss Daisy, I found myself here…

in the Urgent Care near my house for how long? TWO HOURS!!!!! Yes, I got there at 5:15 and didn’t leave until 7:15; it was awful! I was tested for strep and am now being treated with antibiotics and rest and OJ. On the bright side, I don’t work all day today like I was suppose to.

So now i’m going back to bed…
