Show and Tell: Your Favorite Vacation

Oh boy, vacations!!! I could use a long vacation…you know, the kind that never ends! 😉 But nonetheless, life must go on and I must continue school. Sigh. I guess we can still talk about them then.

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

When we did our favorite vacation post last year I talked all about…

Our family vacation to Orange Beach, Alabama in the summer of 2014. And it’s still my favorite one to date because

1. It was quality family time.
2. We had never been before so it was an experience for all of us.
3. We got away from distractions and all laughed and joked with each other so much.
4. We just relaxed for a week straight.

Since then, I went to Boston with my dad last May.

We celebrated Grandpa’s 95th birthday in Iowa last September.

I spent Spring Break two months ago in Omaha, Nebraska.

We went Grandpa’s house in Iowa (like we do every summer!).

And I went on a couple “mini” vacations for the weekend to…

Fayetteville (for Emily’s graduation), our High School Church retreat, Lake Charles to visit Morgan, Ole Miss for Labor Day, and to watch Morg’s very first college game. So fun!

So for the rest of 2016….

We’re planning to go back up to Omaha for a a little family reunion at the beginning of July.

I’m hopefully (fingers crossed) going to NYC in October on a Mission Trip. I went on one in June of 2012 to New Orleans and I am so ready for another one.

And as many more as I can go on!!! I love vacations and spending time with some of my absolute favorite people doing fun things.

Show and Tell: A Day In The Life

Oh boy I’m super pumped about today. I love, love, love day in the life posts. I don’t know what it is but there’s just something about taking a stroll through someone else’s day that’s super exciting to me.

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

My original plan was to capture a Sunday since I had never done one of those before, but I forgot my pictures and had to do it yesterday instead. I will just warn you ahead of time that my day is super boring. My weeks are pretty dull now that i’m not working and we’re getting to the end of the semester.

Such is life. Shall we take a look at it??

At 8:59 my alarm went off. Remember I set my alarm on random numbers? and by 9:03 I was opening up my phone. Yes…my alarm goes off for a solid 4 minutes before turning it off.

IMG_1281

I got to blog reading for a couple minutes.

IMG_1282

And then I got up, went to the bathroom, changed, brushed my teeth, and grabbed a water and my yoga mat to head to the gym.

IMG_1285

It’s 9:30 and I am about to BodyShred. And then practice some yoga right afterwards.

IMG_1287

When I came home I made a strawberry banana spinach smoothie…

IMG_1289

…along with the most random (and not very pretty) breakfast of half a rice cake with almond butter and my homemade triple berry jam, half a rice cake with avocado egg whites and salsa, and then cottage cheese. Am I the only one that craves EVERYTHING in the morning and then can’t decide, so I eat the most random things together???

IMG_1291

While I finished sipping on my smoothie, I got to blog reading and getting work done on my computer.

IMG_1293

And then I was hungry. Mind you, like an hour after breakfast…of course. So I dove into this bag and ate allllllllll the goodness. Y’all. These are TO DIE FOR. They’re so addicting so beware!

IMG_1295

We’re in the process of a remodel and right now mom is spending her days looking at tile and flooring and carpet and appliances and all the things that don’t excite me one bit. I figured I would go and keep her company, ya know, since I wasn’t doing anything else. #nolife

IMG_1302

We got home around 4:00 and I took myself outside to our patio and worked on my computer a little bit more before I had to go up to school.

IMG_1303

Around 4:30ish I grabbed a black bean quinoa veggie burger with some roasted green beans asparagus and tomatoes for lunch or dinner. Whatever you prefer to call it.

IMG_1305

And then at 5:45 I had to leave and meet with my group to work on our presentation that’s today (wish us luck…it’s our capstone course consultation project)!

IMG_1306

We were there for a couple of hours and then since I commute, I have another close to an hour on the road home.

IMG_1308

I got home, showered, grabbed some popcorn and hot tea and got to work on our presentation. I also ate some leftover Hawaiian chicken I made last week and my apple cobbler too.

IMG_1309

And this was a particularly late night, but finally I called it quits close to midnight and went to bed.

As you’re ready this, i’m probably up preparing for my presentation later this morning and then another presentation this afternoon. Oh yeah, and finishing up a paper I have due tonight. #collegelife #jealous?

And that’s my day. My boring ol’ Monday. Hopefully yours was a little more exciting!

My Own Talk Show

And here are all my 2015 Show and Tell posts.

And here are all my Day In The Life posts.

Happy Tuesday!

Show and Tell: Your Own Talk Show

Today’s show and tell is all about…my own talk show? Oh boy, that’s a lot of pressure.

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

When I think about my favorite talk show, I think of these people…

klghodatvshow

KLG and Hoda are my FAVORITE. I love to start my morning with them. I love the things they talk about. I love that they always have wine in front of them. I love that they are hilarious. I love the stories and features that they do. I love them. So if I had my own talk show it would be just like theirs! Besides that, being on their show is on my bucket list. So I could double cross that off if I had my own show like theirs.

Or maybe I could just take one of their places? 😉

I also love

talkshowtvshowellen

Ellen’s talk show because she’s so positive! She’s got good stories and she just seems happy all the time.

So yeah, my show would be just like KLG and Hoda with a twist of Ellen….but replace the wine glass with a cup of coffee and we’re set. Now accepting applications for my co-host.

IMG_1131

Along with the people i’d invite to my dinner party, I would choose people who have been influential in my life this far.

So like KLG and Hoda this morning, I too would interview Shay…

IMG_7178

…because I loved her when I met her a year ago! I’m so looking forward to seeing her this morning. Shay is the reason that I started blogging in the first place. I have loved every second of it and I definitely have her to thank for that.

I would also have to interview Candace Cameron Bure. This woman does it all and I look up to her a lot. She’s a great example of a Christian woman, she writes books, she acts, she works out (she’s got a hot bod) and she’s a great mom, I mean…GOALS. Plus look how stylish she is!

Candace-Cameron-Bure-JaniceFlorenceSerenity

I would want to interview Ben…just to be in his presence 😉 But also because I feel like he’s a genuine guy that does a lot for others. I’d just want to get to know him better.

bachelorben

Danielle Walker would have to come on my show because this cookbook is the one that first got me into cooking. Not only cooking but cooking for food allergies. She went through a lot of what I did so I loved reading her story.

IMG_1528

Danielle plus Ina that is.

inaandgiadatvshow

(and Giada) because my mom always has their shows on in the background during the day, so I have been watching their shows for a couple years now. I love that they have their own shows and cook for other people. I want that to be me some day! Danielle and Ina’s cookbooks were the first two I ever had thanks to my mom.

I would also want to interview Kayla Itsines.

kaylaitsinestv

I’ve mentioned her before because of her workout guides that I have done in the past. I look up to her so much in the health and fitness industry! Y’all need to follow her on Instagram and look at her website! It’s so positive and uplifting (that’s a running theme for me, obviously). She’s amazing.

I would have to bring on some of my favorite authors. I mean, the people that got me to enjoy reading have to get other people to enjoy reading too. I just know it.

And then I would of course have to interview Kate Middleton so I could figure out how we are related already!!!!!! It’s killing me!

katemiddletontvshow

Hoda and KLG, Ellen, Shay, Candace, Danielle, Ina, Giada, Ben, Kayla, Kate…anyone. Call me. I want to be friends. So that I can interview you. When I get my own talk show remember you were the first ones on my list!!!!

Yes that was a pathetic beg. No I am not ashamed.

So that’s just the start of my show. Just to get it up and running you know 😉 So, tell me, would we have the same people on our show??? That’ll help me figure out who is going to co-host with me. Haha!

Don’t forget that tomorrow is Bookworm Wednesday!

Show and Tell: Your Hometown

Every other Tuesday I link up with Andrea and we show and tell about ourselves!

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

This week we’re talking…Hometowns.

Every time I think of my hometown, I think of Carrie Underwood’s song “Thank God for Hometowns”. It couldn’t be more true. When I would drive back from Norman I would blast this song as I was pulling up into my driveway and it would make me happy. In case you haven’t heard it, listen to it:

This song reminds me of college!

I grew up in Frisco, Texas. It’s a suburb about 25 miles north of Dallas. We moved here when I was just weeks into Kindergarten. While I can still remember Virginia and our house there, Texas is home.

IMG_7850

When we moved here in 1999 the population was about 33,000 people. I went to school on a winding dirt road. There was nothing out here. Now in 2016, there’s about 150,000 people and growing. It’s so crazy!

friscodowntown

http://bestneighborhoodsindfw.com/frisco/

This is our downtown area where there are many shops and restaurants. We don’t go there too often, but on the right side of this picture is where our “Snowcone Lady” had her little shop. It was just a shed and she would have lines down the road of people wanting snow cones. She put her kids through college with her stand and was the sweetest lady. I always got the wedding cake. We loved going there as a treat after a long, hot day of swimming in the summer!

friscochristmasinthesquare

Where to View the Best Christmas Light Displays in Frisco

This is another part of our downtown during Christmas. You can drive through this downtown area and if you turn your radio to a certain station the Christmas lights will flash along with the music.

friscoheritagecenter

The Athletic Shoulder Workshop in Frisco, TX

Near our downtown, we have this Heritage center. I’ve actually never been here, but heard it’s amazing. The restaurant I waited tables at all through high school is right next door to here. And fun fact: real cotton grows in front of the Heritage center.

friscotoyotastadium

http://friscoblog.dallasnews.com/2015/09/national-soccer-hall-of-fame-space-among-proposed-improvements-for-friscos-toyota-stadium.html/

Toyota Stadium is right across from the flashing Christmas lights part of our downtown and is home to FC Dallas, our Major League Soccer team by day and any kind of concert by night. The Women’s National Team was here a couple weeks ago playing Mexico. Jimmy Buffet comes every May. Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt, Eric Church, Chris Young, Chase Rice, Jana Kramer and more will be here for The Off The Rails concert in April. Dying to go to that concert!!! A lot of our high school football games were played in this stadium as well.

friscocowboyspracticestadium

http://www.visitfrisco.com

And our newest addition is the Dallas Cowboys practice stadium. It should be completed this year or next, and it is HUGE. Hey Jerry, your girl is graduating in August and needing a job!!!! 😉

friscodrpepperballpark

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisco,_Texas

We also have Dr. Pepper ballpark where the Frisco Roughriders play. They are the AA “feeder” team to the Texas Rangers. When Josh Hamilton got hurt, he came down to play for the Riders and it was the most packed I have ever seen it…obviously. My brother might try to get a job here, which would be SO FUN! I’d love that.

friscoikea

http://www.amxrealty.com/Buyers/Relocate_to_Frisco_TX

On the other side of the parking lot from Roughriders stadium is Ikea. It’s a HUGE furniture store that people drive hours to come to. I had a professor from OU once e-mail me during break to say that she was coming and thought of me because she knew I lived here.

And of course we have our mall, lots of shopping, tons of restaurants, and plenty of sights to see…but really,

It’s where I went to all my school dances.

It’s where I met all of my awesome friends.

It’s where I got my first job.

It’s where I know all the short cuts to any place I want to go.

It’s where all my memories are. Like my boyfriend and I breaking up in Toyota Stadium. Haha 😉 Although it wasn’t funny at the time.

It’s where we learned chores, where I learned to love cooking, where I learned to love exercising.

It’s where I learned to drive.

It’s where I found my Church and my love for the kids there.

It’s where we’ve spent all of our days. Rain or shine.

So many classmates of mine would always complain about “there’s nothing to do”…are you kidding?!?! We are so blessed to have been able to grow up in Frisco, Texas and I don’t take it for granted.

Frisco is my story. It’s who I am. And made me who I am.

Thanks for visiting home with me today, friends! 🙂

Show and Tell: How To Win My Heart

Ah, yes. It’s that time again…show and tell with Andrea!

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

So you wanna know how to win my heart, huh? To be honest, I kind of feel like i’m filling out a match.com profile. I can just see my friends making fun of me now, haha! But in the name of #blogworld we’re doing it.

First, you might want to wake me up with some coffee. For you and for me.

IMG_0263

And you see that B in the background of this picture? With the red and the blue? Yeah, to win my heart we will probably take a trip to Fenway.

IMG_6729

Or if you’re more of a football person, I don’t discriminate. We can go watch another sport besides baseball. As long as we can see the Sox play at some point 😉

IMG_9042

If you’ve won my heart, we’re probably going to the gym together.

IMG_0964

And on our first date we most likely got frozen margs with a side of chips and salsa because #indulgences

IMG_4793

To win my heart, you’ve got to be okay with my scented candle obsession.

IMG_2179

AND YOU HAVE TO BUY ME A PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know where you can get one too!

IMG_0093IMG_1615IMG_1541

We’ll probably spend a lot of time watching some of my favorite shows…we can watch yours too. I can be fair.

You’ll have to be okay with a gluten free/lactose free cake on my birthday.

IMG_0328

And my constant obsession with trying new recipes/foods even when they go wrong.

IMG_9726

You’ll have to accept me on my days when I look this good…because more often than not this is how you’ll see me 😉

IMG_4752

You’ll have to get along with my family. And they will have to like you. I know some people don’t care if their family gets along with their significant other…but there is no way. Not for me.

IMG_4381

To win my heart, you’ll have to want this many kids. Ha kidding. But seriously my significant other will want kids because I know that’s where a lot of my joy in life will come from…raising a family.

pals2

But most importantly…if you’ve won my heart…it’s because God has your heart first.

IMG_2121

I mean, is that so much to ask for?? 😉 Really though, I could care less about chocolate and flowers and jewelry…those don’t mean anything to me. I took the 5 love languages test and I got quality time BOTH times. And now as i’m done writing this post and looking back i’m seeing a lot of what I said was quality time related. So there ya have it…now i’m just hoping I haven’t scared off any potential contenders at this point. Haha!

Have a great Tuesday!

In case you missed any of my S&T Tuesdays for 2016:

Introduction
Momfessional Moments (I didn’t participate)

And here are all my 2015 Show and Tell posts.

Show and Tell: Introduction

It’s the first Show and Tell Tuesday of 2016…for those of you who don’t participate already, I recommend it! These are fun posts to write and read of other people. You simply write on the topic, find the link-up at the bottom of Andrea‘s post and go through everyone else’s. Do it! 🙂

Momfess-Show and Tell Tuesday 2016

So today’s topic is a little about myself…hmmm. A whole post to telling you about me. Oh boy 😉

Where to start?

I’m a daughter…

…and a sister.

IMG_0636

I will choose my family first before anything.

A friend…

A Starbucks enthusiast…

…but only because McDonald’s doesn’t have Soy milk.

Which leads me to food allergies…if you want to know what life is like without gluten and lactose you’ve come to the right place!

I am an exercise fanatic. I’ve recently found a passion for health and fitness and i’m looking at possibly doing something in the future within that field.

I’m turning 22 in a couple of days and graduating college in August (FINALLY!). I’m pretty much an open book.

I’ve been a Red Sox fan since a young, young age and would choose baseball as my favorite sport. I am a total left-brain and find a lot of joy in planning and organizing.

And most importantly, I find my identity in Jesus and try as hard as I can to live my life like He would. I’ve had a few struggles in life so far, but I feel like it’s taught me so much at the same time. I consider everything in my life a blessing and do my best to find the positive part of everything.

I’m just your average girl.

As for my resolutions this year…i’m doing them a little differently. This year I decided to make a 2016 Bucket List. I sat down on New Years Eve-yes my New Years Eve as a 21 year old was spent at home. That’s another thing about me. I’m fine hanging at home on the biggest party night of the year. Maybe i’m not just the average girl 😉 And New Years Eve night was spent writing down 3 things under the 4 categories that I think are most important for any individual. It’s my 2016 bucket list.

This year, i’m focusing on fitness.

Physical:

*Be able to look at myself in the mirror and be proud of what I see.
*Get my group exercise certification. I’m still contemplating this one to be honest, it’s been on my mind a lot lately, but i’m not sure if i’m wanting to put in the time and work for it yet.
*Work out 5 times/week no matter what is going on. I think this goal and healthy eating will help my fitness goals and i’ll be able to take progress pictures. Hopefully, then i’ll achieve physical goal #1 above.
*Finally get a gym membership. For the past couple months i’ve been testing out gyms across our area to see which one fits me the best. I think I have found one, so I need to sign up!

This year, i’m focusing on contentment.

Spiritual:

*Go on a mission trip. I haven’t been on a trip since 2011 and it’s now 2016. That’s five years…it’s time for another mission trip!
*Spend each morning in Quiet Time. I’m going to do my veeerrrryyy best to spend the first 30 minutes of every day with Jesus. I think it will make a difference for me in how the rest of my day goes.
*Join a small group. Whether it’s another Bible study, a group of young adults, a group of women, or something. I want to find a small group to get connected with.

This year, i’m focusing on independence.

Social:

*Graduate college. August, August, August!
*Find a (full-time) job. Boo. This is bittersweet. Right now i’m loving the free time i’ve been having so it will be sad when I have to go work full-time again.
*Say yes this year. This is self-explanatory.

This year, i’m focusing on happiness.

Mental:

*Do something i’m uncomfortable with. I want to do something that’s going to push me mentally.
*Find happiness with something. Happiness comes from within, which is why I made it a mental goal. I want to find something that I wake up every morning excited for!
*Be in my room at 10:30PM. This has already been hard and it obviously won’t be possible EVERY night but I think it will be a good time for me to relax and reflect on the day. During this time i’m writing down something i’m thankful/grateful for every day. (Got that idea from Reeana, thanks Ree!)
*Work on being satisfied. I think this will be hard because it’s difficult for me to be satisfied, i’ve already figured that out. But i’m working on it this year i’m going to start by writing a list of 15 good things about me and keeping it somewhere that i’ll look at it.

So that’s me. And that’s what 2016 will hopefully look like for me. I hope if this is your first time here you come back, and if it’s your 320957238 time to read all of that, bless you.

Happy 2016!!!

The Best Gift I’ve Ever Received

Hmmmm, that’s a difficult one. I really want to say that it’s something I got under the tree, but to be honest I really don’t think it is. Don’t get me wrong…I am so thankful for everything I get under the tree, but today i’m thinking more along the lines of non-material things. Here are a couple:

The gift of family

The gift of Jesus

IMG_2121

This is truly the best gift all of us has received. The fact that God sent his one and only son down to this Earth to take our sins upon the cross…i’m speechless. Could you imagine that? If you aren’t there yet, i’d love to have a conversation with you about it.

My list could go on and on. I am truly so thankful for each of these gifts! And as much fun as Christmas is this time of each and as much fun as opening the perfectly wrapped presents under the tree are, those aren’t the best gifts I’ve ever received. The ones above are.

‘Tis the season for gifts of all kinds. Merry (early) Christmas!

Show and Tell: Christmas Decor

Show and Tell Tuesday…

momfesstues

…Christmas decorations style!

Last year, my mom was really into making these wreaths. She made one for Fall and then one for Christmas. Welcome!

IMG_3964

Mom does an AWESOME job decorating our bannister every year.

IMG_0020

And Morgan’s job is to set up this little snow village scene…I have no idea what it actually is. Those are her little Houndstooth snowmen she gives mom for her birthday every year too.

IMG_0021

Dad decided one year that he wanted to be like the big kids and get lights by his room….so he now has a strand of colorful lights with branches on the window opening of his wet bar.

IMG_0024

Another one of my favorites is the decoration around the columns. There are little elves (and big ones) spread throughout garland. PS these are a pain in the backside to put on!

IMG_0026

In the entry way sits this table, and this year it’s decorated with one of the 3 plates Morgan made mom for Christmas last year that says “The Middletons” and some fun candy canes with a boot, ornaments, and another Santa.

IMG_0028

And this piece of iron decor has little elves looking like they’re hanging off of the fabric and playing 🙂

IMG_0029

My favorite part of our Christmas decorations is always, always the fireplace. The fireplace at Christmas just makes my Holiday loving heart happy. Mom decorated the mantle, Santa sits next to it, and I lay in front with the fire crackling behind me. Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care…and my grandma’s stocking is the first one in line 🙂

IMG_3965

My grandma made our stockings herself. Hand-stitching each of them with love, and all the bells and whistles, with the year we were born. They are my favorite.

IMG_4018

We all have a different stocking holder every year. I don’t know why, but i’m assuming it’s because ours would break all the time.

IMG_4017

My aunt gave this Santa to my mom a couple of years ago, and now he sits by our fireplace to watch over us..to make sure that we’re being nice and not naughty.

IMG_4026

We love having a real Christmas tree at our house. Ahhh, the smell of freshly cut wood with the mix of the needles. Right now, our tree is sitting naked in our house because we are a lazy fam. O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, how lovely are your (bare) branches.

IMG_3926

Eeek! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Once we get lights and ornaments on our tree that is. Truth be told, our decorations are pretty much the same as last year, and the years before. It’s just easier that way.

Now I can’t wait to see yours. Just in case you missed any of my previous Show and Tell Tuesday posts:

Today’s topic..

Mission Trips and Service Opportunities

This is going to be fun, y’all! I love that Andrea just so happened to pick the topic for TODAY of all days of the year…because our sermon on Sunday was about serving. And we’ve just been introduced to mission trips for 2016 in The Dominican Republic, Honduras, New York City, Los Angeles. And I know I want to go on one of those trips, so i’m just praying about which one right now.

In the summer of 2012 right after I graduated high school, I went on my very first mission trip to New Orleans, Louisiana.

IMG_1509

I recapped it a little bit back in July of 2014. For some reason the links to a few of the pictures aren’t working (of course), but there are still some on there. When I signed up for this mission trip I really didn’t know what to expect. I just found myself excited and feeling good about it!

We got there years after Katrina so while there’s always work to be done, there really wasn’t as much as we were all hoping. But we were put in charge of cleaning the yard for a house that the Church we volunteered for owned. This is our youth pastor. He was the best and I owe him so much for pouring into my life at that young age.

We cleared out, moved, stacked, rearranged furniture in school classrooms to be moved for the schools to be cleaned over the summer.

IMG_1436

We were able to fellowship and study the Bible with one another.

IMG_1390

We painted the girls’ bathroom at one of the elementary schools with Arial from a coloring book. (actually Reeana drew and we painted!)

IMG_1401

And the boys’ bathroom with ya know, boy stuff.

IMG_1397

And then we were of course able to see the city. We explored all around New Orleans one night. It was fun! Especially when you’re with some of your best friends.

IMG_1452

We may or may not have slept while on the job.

IMG_1466

But we of course had some fun along the way 🙂

IMG_1385

I’ll always remember that mission trip. Like I said, I was with some of my best friends for a week in a city that i’d never been to before, glorifying God’s name. There are few things in life that can top that!!

God calls us to serve the world, the community, our Church, and one another.

“The greatest among you shall be your servant.” – Matthew 23:11

I love serving my Church. On Sunday mornings this is where you can find me. With my 3 and 4 year olds 🙂

Wednesday nights you’ll probably find me with my freshman girls at youth group.

IMG_9743

I co-taught 3rd and 4th grade boys at my old Church on Wednesday nights with Reeana’s dad. Half of these boys were pastor’s kids too 🙂

As for our community…my volleyball team in high school participated in Operation Christmas Child, which my old Church hosted. One Saturday morning we all got together to pack up shoeboxes to send over to the kids in poverty and we had so much. Of course we made it competitive because…we were athletes remember 😉 We broke up into groups, shopped through the dollar store, and packed these boxes while eating some BBQ. It was so much fun! My team rocked 🙂

These are some of my favorite memories.

Now, I know many of you have ministries through your own Church that you are a part of, but we just had one that i’m really considering. One Child Matters is a ministry where you pay $40 every month to sponsor a child until they graduate the program. Your $40 goes to pay for health needs, spiritual needs (Bibles, etc.), education needs, and a community for the child to meet others. You’ll write letters back and forth with your  kiddo. It is a commitment, i’m right there with you. I’m praying about this and maybe you should too?? Our Church is sponsoring kids from the Dominican and Honduras where we might be able to go see them on one of the above mission trips.

OH, don’t forget that you can still sign up for the Online Bible Study!!!

Now I can’t wait to go through and look at yours! And just in case you missed any of my previous Show and Tell Tuesday posts:

Show and Tell: A Day In The Life

Happy Show and Tell Tuesday!

momfesstues

When Andrea first posted about this series and I was reading through them, today’s post is the one I was most excited for. I love, love seeing what a day in the life looks like for other people. Maybe because i’m nosy or maybe because I like getting ideas from other people?? Or maybe both.

I had this post all planned out too. I was going to show you what a day in the life of my work days looked like. However, as I mentioned yesterday…Friday happenings threw a wrench in that plan. So my day in the life was yesterday: What you do when you don’t have work to go to anymore.

I woke up and was lazy for a good hour. Usually, I would wake up at 4:30a.m. but yesterday it was 8:30a.m. Four more hours of sleep for this girl! Apparently it didn’t help the bags under my eyes because when I left yesterday morning around 11 they were there! Also, haven’t we all missed my wonderful selfies?! I have a feeling this outfit is going to be repeated several time this fall. Grey, plaid, a scarf, and booties. Yes ma’am.

IMG_9721

After some breakfast, I loaded up mom’s car with some empty boxes to go move my stuff out of the office.

IMG_9722

After turning in all my belongings and saying my goodbyes, I loaded the car full of my things. Remember my first office? Well, about a month ago when I got my promotion I moved all of this stuff into the new office. And now here I am moving it out. Sigh. And I was sweating obviously ’cause homegirl had to take her scarf off. That’s serious business.

IMG_9724

By the time I got home around 2, I was ready for lunch. I opted for grilled fish and brussels sprouts.

IMG_9725

And then I got the itch to bake…so I found my gluten free bread mix and went for it. Well…my bread is obviously bionic because LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED?! Hahahah i’m still laughing about this. What the heck!

IMG_9726

Mom had people come to the house to give an estimate on putting new flooring in, so while they were doing that I assisted in getting out the Thanksgiving decor and putting away the Halloween decor. I love the colors that this season brings 🙂

IMG_9727

After mom’s appointment ended, we had to return the rental car her and dad used for the weekend and stopped by the grocery afterwards.

IMG_9728

We got home and she requested that I make her homemade hummus. And I did because what else is a girl to do with her life? I also made homemade cheez-its because mom’s all about sending sister a care package between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And can I just say she was over the moon about these cheez-its (she’s a huge fan of the regular kind so it says a lot!).

IMG_9732

After I finished baking up a storm for momma bear around 6:30, I got a work-out in on our upstairs tv.

IMG_9729

Once I was done and showered, I turned on my Blood and Oil episode that I missed while I set my schedule for next semester. ONE STEP CLOSER TO GRADUATION!

IMG_9731

And then I grabbed my kombucha and watched the voice with mom. Now i’m sitting here writing this post while watching Friends and realized I didn’t even eat dinner. Oops.

IMG_9733

And that was my day. Sometimes i’m thankful for having an extra day to myself, but yesterday was just weird not going to work as well as having nothing i’m required to do.

Show and Tell: Halloween Costumes

Happy Tuesday!

momfesstues

Today is Show and Tell Tuesday with Andrea over at Momfessionals. Every other week we blog about something we want to show and tell others…then we link-up to her post, go through each others, and see awesome ideas! If you’re a blogger, you I definitely recommend that you join! 🙂

I had to get on to my mom last night because she was the WORST at pictures when we were younger. And then when she might have gotten a picture…they were all awkward.

Exhibit A being the year I went as…something? I don’t even know what that costume was.

 IMG_9630

Exhibit B consists of a picture with a permanent red line through it as Alice in Wonderland hugged her little brother. Sidenote: I actually played Alice in my 2nd grade play. SO PROUD OF MYSELF! Haha

IMG_9631

Exhbit C wasn’t a costume…but apparently I liked green pumpkins. And even more awkward smiles.

IMG_9632

Exhbit D was me on the left as a witch, my sister on the right, and our neighbor who was younger than us. I think the 3 of us went a couple years together.

 IMG_9634

This one isn’t awkward, but exhibit E had me as a bride one year after I got this little kit that I was dying to have! My dad “walked me down the aisle”.

DSC02066

And one year we dressed the brothers up in cute little tutu’s 🙂

IMG_0536

This is the only picture I have of me in high school going as a jail mate (we just walked my brothers around). I got this costume an hour before we went out on sale at Target for less than $20 because that’s #winning.

DSC01349

And the next Halloween I actually dressed up was sophomore year at Oklahoma when I went as Edna Mode (from the Incredibles) ’cause a couple of my friends kept calling me that. Haha it was a hit!

IMG_1966

I think I maybe went to one Halloween party? I’d totally prefer handing out candy. Dressing up is fun when a theme is involved, but to be honest…i’m not really a fan of Halloween, so it’s probably okay that momma didn’t take pictures. But I know i’ll totally be the mom to take a jillion pictures every year of my kids. Ha!

Can’t wait to see all of your costumes and Halloweens past!
