Favorite Things Party: Favorite Scarves

From September to May, a scarf is my style staple. And apparently a good cup of coffee if you’re judging it by these pictures 😉 I know….May is pushing it, but I can’t help it. I love a good scarf. It’s like my safety blanket or something.

This white one. AHHHH! You need one just like this one, for the obvious reason of it goes with everything you could imagine. My exact one is from seasons and seasons ago, but I found a close second that’s just another kind of knit and on some serious sale!

I love a good, fun multi-colored scarf for a pop of color. And I got this one so long ago (are you seeing a trent already??) i’m not even sure where it’s from!

And I mean, this wouldn’t be a post of mine without a leopard scarf featured.

…I try one on in just about every store I go to.

This leopard one is first of all: $5.24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steal! But also, it is so light-weight. And perfect because it is so me. But also, look at how much it goes with?! I have it on with a different colr in every single picture.

This blue fringe scarf has sure gotten it’s use too. I would have never thought that navy blue would go with as much as it does, but I find myself reaching for this scarf in my closet quite often.

This yellow one is my favorite one though. Just because it’s yellow, bright, striped, and fun.

And last but not least, this scarf was one I picked out this summer and absolutely LOVE it on. It is so perfect. Ugh, and ANOTHER STEAL y’all can get one for yourself for $5.24. I was ripped off 😉

Spotted: Home

Creative title, right? 😉 I mean it’s Monday and i’m tired and it’s all I could come up with last night. But it’s a little ironic because part of the fam is vacation bound this morning! Yipee!

If you’re following me on Instagram you’ve already seen this first picture. A lot of my girl friends LOVED this skirt and asked me about it. I can’t blame y’all.

Most of you know that I occasionally work with Taralynn’s Boutique. It’s an online boutique that I am absolutely in love with. I was really excited when I opened my mail and saw this skirt in there. It’s fashionable and perfect for really any occasion. I could pull it out for the winter, summer, spring, or fall. All I need to do is change up my accessories.  I felt so girly and pretty with this skirt on. Like a princess.

Favorite Things Party: Summer Shoe

Today it’s all about our favorite summer shoe for this month’s favorite things party. Link-up with Andrea and Erika, and let’s talk summer shoes!

I don’t have just a single favorite summer shoe, because my favorite shoe really depends on the circumstances, you know where I am going or what i’m doing.

During the day…it’s usually a pair of heels, because I go straight to work from class.

When i’m home exercising…it’s my favorite pair of ASICS.

When i’m going out to lunch – like my friend’s birthday, going to an event – like Morgan’s senior day, or getting slightly dressed up – like a wedding…it’s a pair of wedges. This white pair is almost always my go-to. I can wear them with anything, they make a normal ol’ pair of shorts pop, and they work all year ’round!

…but this is my other go-to pair (I got them a couple years ago, so I don’t have a link!). And my go-to girl. Hehe, love my Ems.

If i’m running errands and know I won’t be trying on any clothes, i’ll usually go for a more sturdy pair of shoes. Now, these aren’t real converse, this is Target’s brand. Let’s be real, I’m a college student still having to pay tuition, so this pair of grey sneakers was exactly up my alley. I wanted the look, but to not spend the money ($20 compared to $50, i’ll save whatever I can). And hey! People still talked to me when I wore these shoes!!! 🙂 I’m planning on ordering more colors….right…..now!

….but what I normally throw on in the summer time is this. Just a normal pair of flip flops. Flip flops are seasonal, so I definitely get my use out of them in the Spring and Summer. In fact, this is a picture I took running errands on Friday.

Speaking of running errands on Friday, I stepped in Target to see what kind of selection they had. I almost always get like 4 pairs of shoes from there every season. And right now they are doing buy one, get one 50% off shoes, clothing and accessories. Flip flops were of course my first stop. And this brown pair caught my eye. They were comfortable, easy to throw on, and will match any outfit.

Since it was buy one, get on 50% off I tried on another pair…this floral pink was so festive. I was a fan of these shoes for sure.

After that I went snooping around the other aisles and found this pair of heels. Go figure – another floral pink. I guess that’s my thing for shoes this summer. After trying these on I came to the conclusion that the heel was a little higher than I normally like…however, if you don’t mind a higher heel I really think these would be perfect for spring and summer. They make a statement, but they are subtle at the same time.

I’m all about white for the summer (if you can’t already tell) and really liked this pair when I saw them on the shelf. They are super easy to throw on if you don’t want to waste time messing around with a buckle or strap. You know, sometimes you just want a pair of shoes that will sit downstairs for you to throw on if you’ve got to run somewhere quickly! They come in a cognac color, too and probably would have come home with me had I not realized…

…I have this pair of white sandals waiting for me in my closet. That I wear a lot. Unfortunately, I got them a couple years ago so I can’t link to it, but this shirt is one of my favorite shirts that I have in my closet. This picture was taken during a casual Friday at the office 🙂

But my verrrrrrrrrry favorite pair that I found on my trip?? This pair of sandals.

I mean…how stinkin’ cute right? I bought this pair in a 6 last summer because I wanted them so bad. I tried making them work, but they were just too small so I had to take them back. I went to 4 different Targets within reasonable distance from me and stiiilllll couldn’t find them. Now that they’re back and in my size THEY ARE MINE!

And for fun? A sweet summer scarf on clearance for $10.48. That’s what i’m talkin’ about!

After looking around on Target’s website, I realized they have exclusive online only brands. WHAT?! WHY DIDN’T ANY OF YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS…WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE FRIENDS! If you want, you can shop that here! (this is where most of my Saturday went!! Ha)

The Cutest Outfit You Could Find!

By now y’all know that I have an obsession with Taralynn’s, right? If you don’t – welcome to the blog!!

Taralynn’s is an online only boutique with in-style, and very affordable fashion items. She is the sweetest and last week sent me this cute, cute white sheer top with this flattering skort.

As soon as I put this shirt on, I knew it was love. I wore it the next day actually 🙂 My mom and my sister were swooning over it as well. The top of the shirt is a cut-out, if you can’t tell. I do have to wear a strapless bra, but I don’t mind because i’ve already gotten so many compliments on it! This is Chinese sizing, so it runs small. I have on a medium for size reference.

Saturday afternoon I went down to the trails in my neighborhood to snap some pictures in my new outfit. After weeks of rain here in Texas, everything is turning green and getting pretty! Not only was the weather amazing – I was looking comfortable, cute, and classy!

I wore the shirt to work on casual Friday a couple weeks ago and loved this pairing also. The shirt is white, so obviously you can put it with any color. Kylie – It’s now listed on her site. Snag it!

This skort is so unique. I haven’t seen anything like it before, why is probably why I was so drawn to it. This also runs small and i’m wearing a medium.

I love my fedora and wanted to throw it on for a little something extra. I definitely see myself picking it out for a summer night out. Or maybe a spring night with some girlfriends?

I know, I know. Not a flattering picture. But I want to show you that you could throw a pop of pink with the outfit and still look stylish!

Today in the blog world is What I Wore Wednesday with The Pleated Poppy

 Outfits on outfits on outfits. It didn’t take me very long when I got onto Pinterest to see what what inspiring me. In fact, it’s quite simple really. This Spring, I was inspired by skirts.

This girl is rocking the florals and a black skirt.

The other day to work I put white with my business casual black skirt (similar pencil style here) and then made my accessories and shoes my pop color (like I talked about last month).

I’m sure i’ve used this picture before, but this girl is so cute! I would never have thought to put these colors together, but I think it looks great on her.

I used the blue colored skirt and put the polka dot shirt from Taralynn’s (sold out) for the pictures I took a couple months ago. But now I think i’m going to wear this to work today. Thanks pin-spired.

This skirt is faaaaabulous. I’m scared to buy it because of my short legs, but it’s so pretty and such a statement!

I’m a fan of maxi skirts and I loved this pattern of the one I bought from Target a couple years ago. Wish it was still in stores so I could link it for y’all!

All Green Everything

We love holidays around here. I personally think St. Patrick’s day is a weird holiday though. I don’t get it, but nonetheless it is an excuse for a theme. I’m all in for a good theme. So, in honor of St. Patrick’s day tomorrow, i’m sharing my favorite green things.

Pants.

It’s no secret that I love colored pants. I’ve got multiple colors. Just see below 🙂

But I realized my closet does not have green. And I have no idea why, so I think I need to remedy that with this pair of jeans because why not have a pair of green pants?! They aren’t the ones shown above, however I think the next time i’m at Target i’m stopping for these eyelet pants.

ICE.

Ice is fantaaaaaastic. I’ve probably already mentioned it before, but this drink it flavorful with 0 sugar, 0 calories, 0 sodium, 0 everything. This isn’t my absolute favorite flavor, but all green everything remember?

I’m not going to be your friend anymore unless you buy  me these because i’m dyyyyying to have them. And I don’t know why I haven’t just bought them myself. Probably because I have the memory of a goldfish and forget to every time I think about it.

Apparently I love everything green at BBW. I’m still using this Vanilla Bean Noel, with spares under my sink. And I always have the Eucalyptus Spearmint in my possession because everyone needs it. Do you hear me? You need it! I promise I won’t disappoint you. And if I do then you don’t have to buy me those earrings I just talked about. 😉

Green food.

I know i’m one of those weird people that likes green food. Seriously – give me broccoli, peas, asparagus, lettuce, brussels sprouts, green beans, I don’t care. I’ll eat it all. And you won’t be able to have any because I. Love. Veggies.

Gardening season.

It’s officially gardening season, y’all. And we’ve been planting. This is my tomato plant from last year, and this year we’re trying different things but also keeping our same tomatoes, basil, thyme, and all sorts of other herbs. Because fresh out of the garden is soooooo good.

I hope I got you in the green spirit today 🙂 Happy almost (weirdest holiday ever) day!

But one more thing,

Yesterday I went on a run for the first time in months. And this is the face of someone who just ran three miles and wants to shoot herself in the foot for being stupid and choosing to do that. Yes, I realize my eye make-up smearing looks fantastic. But…..

Then I got home and was trying to look down and noticed my right eye wouldn’t really do it, so I looked at it on my phone and noticed…my eye started swelling! I was going to take a Benadryl but it was 6pm and I knew it would put me to sleep so I decided to put eye drops in and take Claritin. While I was waiting for a couple hours to pass to take my Benadryl I fell asleep on the couch. Now it’s 10:15pm and I just woke up and i’m about to go take that Benadryl to knock me out because it’s still swollen and i’m grumpy. What on earth. So this is the face of someone who probably has really bad allergies and is even more so an idiot. 😦

Tomorrow i’m sharing my most embarrassing moment…and I don’t even think I know what that’s going to be yet. Haha! See you then with my swollen eye and all!

March Pin-Spired

Today is Pin-Spired Monday with Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel. It’s where we find stuff that inspires us on Pinterest and then re-create it ourselves. And this March I was pin-spired by a pop of color. That’s it. Nothing big, but when you look at outfits your eye is automatically drawn to the color. I’ll be honest and tell you that I was exhausted yesterday, so we’re going to keep it pretty simple this morning. But hopefully you’ll get some inspiration!!

Maybe your pop of color isn’t a bright color like my wine colored cardigan? Or maybe it is bright like this yellow one.

 

Or maybe it’s a statement necklace?

Possibly a pair of earrings.

Favorite Things: Target Edition

Today i’m linking up with Andrea and Erika for their favorite things party…and today it’s Favorite things at Target edition!!!! And. I’m. Pumped. I pretty much live at Target and have a routine when I go there, depending on which Target I go to in my city. So much so that one of my WIWW posts was a target edition as well.

As for this Target, I hit up the scarves first!! On Saturday I talked about the summer scarf, remember? Well, I tried on these two options and really liked both of them.

I love the crinkle look and how this scarf has the navy, yellow, white, and blue incorporated.

BUT!! Yellow is my favorite, favorite color and so I chose this scarf and i’m pretty positive you’ll be seeing it a lot this Spring because it can go with a lot of different colors and styles (ex. this outfit that i’m wearing). If you’re not a fan of yellow they had purple, pink, orange, mint, and black as well.

I told you that mint and pink are going to be in this year, remember? Well, I promise I wasn’t lying because I would never do that to you and to prove that i’m going to show you this:

(Crap!!! I didn’t get close enough!) But this is a mint and pink (more of a lighter shade pink) wall and I loved everything that they had out.

Especially this funky necklace. Ugh! I didn’t get close up…and couldn’t find the exact one on Target’s website, but this one is very similar just to show you.

And for kicks, I wore my mint shoes that I got from Target last year and thought i’d show you this bracelet that I picked to go with it! Do you like?? Ps. I’m telling you that yellow scarf was the last one in the store and I didn’t put it down after I found it!

So then as I went over to the shoe section I noticed everything was picked over. Nothing I liked in my size and hardly any styles that I was feeling. Except for this pair of sandals. But they were too big. I just liked the little gold bow on top. Maybe i’ll have to order them 🙂

These two pairs I bought last week from the other Target in my city, and so far i’ve worn these gold flats to work.

but not my pink pair yet.

And every year I get multiple pairs of bathing suits from Target, because you can never have too much and you can mix and match tops and bottoms with all the fun, colorful, styles. I’m definitely not about to take a swimsuit selfie so i’m just going to show you these!

Then I saw all these sale signs up and knew I was in trouble…I went through all the sales and everything was a crop top or had barbie on it. Weird. I decided to part from the sale racks…sigh…and hit the regular shopping.

And found a couple things. First, that I didn’t like at all. This sweater was just odd, maybe it was too big but I was excited about it until I put it on…don’t you hate when that happens?

And this is not two pieces, it’s one piece and i’m definitely trying to decide what is going on with it…still. I’m just confused on why it makes me look like i’m wearing a trash bag on my bottom half? I like the top but I just laughed and took it off and said “neeeexxxttt!”

 

I have a problem…I tend to pick the same things….yellow. stripes. whatever it is. I don’t venture out when i’m shopping at least at one given time. Okay, I normally wouldn’t put these together but I didn’t have another shirt…I loved these shorts. They were light and comfortable and long enough to make me feel like I wasn’t showing all. What more can you ask for in a pair of springy shorts??

This leather jacket (I have on the iron grey color) was an absolute favorite. I have on a small for size reference and it’s too big in the arms. I ran out of time and couldn’t try on the x-small, but i’m going back this week because I need to have it and I really like how it looks with my shirt and jeans.

This blazer was calling my name last week and this week….so I knew I had to try it on. I’m an idiot for not getting a different shirt because both striped shirts clashed. But I could totally see wearing it on casual Friday or something. This is also a small for size reference and it was too long in the arms.

I told y’all stripes was going to be my thing this year…do you believe me noooowwww?

And then because I always have to look at nail polish. I’m loving Essie’s blues/greens/purples. But then again there isn’t really a nail polish color I haven’t liked 😉

And no Target trip is complete until you leave with a Starbucks coffee!

12. The summer scarf

Y’all know if it’s anything scarf related, i’m all in. ALL IN! So, this summer i’m probably going to be wearing scarves in my pictures. As for spring and summer I want something light-weight and colorful to bring out an outfit. I thought this would be a perfect one because it’s full of color and everybody loves them some chevron.

However, this one below is all me. Yellow, stripes, and that crinkle is faaaantaaasstic. Be right back, headed to Target.

13. Anything mint or pink color.

Now this spring…the new thing is bold colors. I’ve still seen a lot of black around…but I like bold colors for spring and summer! It makes everything more happy 🙂 Besides, wearing bold colors makes you look more tan 😉 But especially mint and bright pink. It’s everywhere! Look around next time and i’m sure you’ll see it somewhere. I went to the homepage for women’s fashion on Pinterest…and all of these pictures came from there. But seriously, these girls look AMAZING. And now I officially wish it was Spring/Summer.

14. Nail Polish

Nooooowwww i’m speaking girlfriend’s love language. Emily is all things nail polish. When we were in high school i’d go over to her house and for some reason can remember her always painting her nails. And the good thing is that you can never have too many colors!!!

For my birthday, I told my dad that on my bucket list was going to all of the MLB stadiums. (I thought of it after I wrote my list) So….he got me Red Sox tickets for a weekend in Boston with him this coming Spring. Loved that gift!

I know I always tell you this, but I always ask for expensive things for gifts that I don’t want to spend my own money on. Maybe it’s a concert? Hello Sam Hunt. Maybe it’s a new laptop? A new phone? A new bed? Haha whatever you want, you know you wouldn’t get on a normal occasion and you can’t figure out what else you need. Hey, and it could be just a trip for you and a friend somewhere…I don’t know?

20. A new watch

Maybe you’re finally wanting to splurge on a Michael Kors watch? Nows the time to get it 🙂 ‘Cause then you can get your arm party going with me!!! Aren’t you sad we’re at our last one? I thought about saving the best one for last, but let’s be honest all of mine were the best ones….;)

As for today’s post…do you ever have those moments when you don’t know what to ask for for your birthday? Well, Emily did the other day. Her 21st is coming up and she has no idea what she wants to ask for…girlfriend needed some help!  I love my friends. But I especially love when my friends ask me to do blog posts for them about fashion choices and things like that 🙂

As for me, I usually always ask for practical things. Home decor, home appliances, gas gift cards, the things I don’t necessarily want to spend my own money on. For example, Christmas 2013 was the month before I moved into my own apartment at OU and I knew I would need some appliances and dishes. And that’s all I got, it was great!

Today i’m bringing you: 21 things to ask for for your 21st birthday. 21 things is a lot so i’m going to break it up into 2 posts. Hopefully I can give someone ideas!

1. Jewelry

If you would have asked me this list a couple years ago, jewelry would never have made the cut. I was never into jewelry. In fact, I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was a junior in high school. But now this is going to be a lot of my list. I love bracelets. I love necklaces. And I love earrings. It adds an instant “pop” to any ol’ outfit.

2. Rainboots

I love rainboots. Love ’em. You really only need one pair, but you want to make sure they are a good pair. Did you know you’re technically suppose to wear rain boots with shoes? But who does that? So I always want to make sure that the pair of rain boots I have are comfortable because I usually have them for a long time. This particular pair I got for Christmas from Santa, but i’ve found you a super close second. They are stripes and I have a feeling you’re going to be seeing a lot of stripes on me in the near future. It’s becoming my thang.

3. Coffee Giftcards

Most people don’t like giving gift cards. My aunt hates it, she just thinks it’s thoughtless. I understand that, but I LOVE GIFTCARDS. I like not having to spend money on the little things like groceries or coffee or food, you know. I’d rather use that money to splurge on something else every once in a while.

4. Work Clothes

For those of you working in corporate America where you’ve got to dress business casual on a day to day basis, this is ALWAYS something to ask for. Sometimes a good pair of pants can end up costing quite a bit.

5. Books

Emily is going to be upset when she sees this on my list haha she does not read. But it’s such a good gift in my opinion, especially when there’s something you want to read and you don’t have anything else to ask for. These are currently on my list to read.

6. Purses

This tote I think is super practical and super cute. Turn it one way for Spring and the other way for Winter. Some people aren’t all for yellow…but that is my color. There’s purple also.

7. Stella and Dot Bracelets

Stella and Dot has always been on my radar. The girls in my sorority would buy their arrow necklaces (Pi Phi) but when i’ve looked through the different products they had I saw this new one. If you’re more into bracelets this is a good option. I just really like the personalization option a lot. It makes it seem a lot more thoughtful.

 

This is a new part of Stella and Dot’s spring collection. I love, love this string on the bangle. Plus, I love bangles and layering bracelets. They have this bracelet in another color as well.

8. Stella and Dot Necklaces

Honestly, i’ve been dying to have this necklace for months now. I’m not quite sure why I haven’t just bought it yet…

I thought this would be a cute idea too. I definitely was skeptical about this idea at first of having your name on a necklace, but I see so many of these necklaces on people and decided I liked them. I think your anniversary date or just about anything else would be cute too. That’s the best part is you can personalize it however you want. With the matching bracelet from above! 😉

9. Stella and Dot Earrings

Sometimes I don’t feel like wearing dangle earrings, but I still want some color. And I thought these studs would be the perfect solution to that problem….like Candace Cameron Bure. Girl, rock that Stella and Dot!!

This pair of earrings is fab.u.lous. i’ve been dying to get these too, wow. I need to pick up my stella and dot shopping. These come in a espresso, turquoise, and aqua as well and I think any of the colors look amazing on.

10. Anything organization…

If you’re like me anything organization is the best thing to ask for. This Erin Condren notebook has not left my side all semester. I’m thinking of getting myself her planner next year.

11. Samoas

On a little bit more of the silly side…if I allowed myself, I could eat an entire box in one sitting. This is the best thing you will ever eat. And probably the best thing you could ever ask for 😉

February Pin-Spired: Florallujah

Today i’m linking up with Shay at Mix and Match Mama, Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To, and Mel at The Larson Lingo for their monthly Pin-Spired. It’s where you find stuff that you like on Pinterest and try to re-create it yourself. Make sure you reading the exciting news (x2) at the bottom!

If you’re an avid reader of Colors of Life, first… thank you! you rock! But second, hopefully you saw my God Made Girls post and would’ve seen fabulous sweatshirts from Taralynn’s. I saw a lot of floral pieces on Pinterest (I think a lot of people are getting ready for the spring) and knew I had to post my Florallujah post this Pin-Spired holiday.

I’ll be completely honest and tell you that when I opened the package that held this shirt I thought to myself “oh gosh, i’m going to look like a window treatment” thanks to my interior designing mom i’m verrrrry familiar with floral window treatments. HOWEVER, I tried them on and they were super fabulous. Super fabulous.

I really liked that these shirts were outside my normal “go-to” style. This particular one comes in grey and white.

  

I had this top paired with these shorts to bring out they grey/brown/green in the shirt. Shop Taralynn’s site. You just need to.

This shirt is flattering tucked in or left out. With sleeves rolled up or sleeves left down. It’s versatile to your own style. (Ohhh, I like that saying) Someone make me a cute graphic for that 😉

I could not decide which one I liked better between the two! I guess it would probably just depend on the occasion that I was wearing the shirt. To me, the grey is more of a wintery/darker look and the white is a spring look. Either can be worn to the office as well.

  

I paired this grey version with my red pants and threw this crotchet vest over it. Also..this vest is ONLY $7 right now. I’ve gotten my use out of it that i’m sure this is not the first time you’ve come across it on the blog. And it’s not in stores anymore, just online only!!! It definitely adds the needed flair to any outfit.

God made girls

I have some exciting stuff for you today, friends!!! It’s the very bottom of this post, but don’t skip the middle! 🙂

Yesterday as I was looking at these pictures when I got home, the song “God made girls” kept running through my head. I don’t know why, but it’s all I could think of. First of all, I adore Raelynn’s song. But second of all, the lyrics are perfect, especially for today as I show you a little snippet of the girly part of me!

God made girls to dress up and model clothes.

God made girls to be over-analytical.

God made girls to be crazy and fun.

The sleeves on this shirt were long on my short arms, but I had mentioned something to my photographer and she said you can’t even tell. It’s funny how we sometimes think about things that nobody else notices. Other than that, I had nothing bad to say about this sweatshirt. It was fleece-lined, cozy, and perfect fitting. I love these two colors together, but if you’re more of a red-lover then there’s a red option as well. This is coming to yoga with me!

I love being a girl. I love getting to try on new clothes.

But, best of all I love when God makes girls you get to call your sister.

I love my sister. She’s been my pal from a small age.

Morgan makes me angry, Morgan annoys me, Morgan gets cranky. But there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my sister, nothing at all. God obviously thought we needed each other and whether we realize it now, we will someday. Remember your sisters today!

We’ve gotten close recently, which of course i’m happy about. I’ll be sad when she leaves for college. Yesterday when we were driving back from taking these pictures I said, “what am I going to do without another girl in the house next year?” she replies: “well you have mom.” I love my mom and i’m glad she’ll be there, but it’s not like having my baby sister.

My mom thought this picture was funny because we are NEVER serious together. Morgan is either making fun of me or we are arguing about who stole whose clothes from the other’s closet.

Morgan, I love you for being my partner in crime forever and always. I thank God for making girls and making you my little sister. I hope I have taught you everything (good) that you know. I hope you learn to love life, have fun, love God, and count your blessings. And Morg, you may have been self-conscious about not wearing make-up in these pictures, but girlfriend you are b.e.autiful! PS. Lana, thank you thank you for taking the pictures!!

November Pin-spired!

Well, I thought that Pin-Spired was going to be on Wednesday because um I don’t know why? But then of course after I did my daily Shay and Sheaffer blog stalking on Friday I found out it was Monday with Mel, too. And then all of a sudden I got all “holy crap I can’t be my normal procrastinating self and wait until Tuesday” panicky. *Cue me getting on Pinterest during my 8am Friday lecture*

So I’m searching Pinterest and all, right? I can’t seem to understand why nothing is popping out in my face and inspiring me to get Pin-Spired. Then I got mad at Pinterest and broke up with her for a day. (No it wasn’t me being moody and cranky in my 8am lecture. How dare you think that!) Saturday I was drinking some hot chocolate and I thought I should apologize to Pinterest for being breaking up with her and try again. So, I got back on and started scrolling, then it hit me….I’m not finding anything popping out at me because it’s all so SIMPLE! I know that the holidays are coming up, so we tend to spend less on our own outfits and clothes and more on presents, obviously. This is that difficult “there’s so many things I want but I have to wait until after Christmas” time. Therefore, I thought this was the perfect month for turning the simple pieces of your wardrobe into simply comfy, cozy, cute outfits. Oh my goodness. I love.

I fell in love with this outfit, it was definitely one of my favorites. First of all girl in the emerald, you’re ADORABLE! and I can’t find her on Pinterest, so sad. I didn’t have emerald in my closet but I did find this loose fitting flowy shirt in the closet and knew this was the one. Look, i’ve even got my cup of coffee like she does. 🙂 I love the back of this shirt. It doesn’t show your bra in the back, which I love because it’s such a pain having to change your bra in order to cooperate with a piece of clothing.

I really don’t know. But I liked this outfit. A good sweater = a good day. See, i’m cuddling with myself because i’m so warm and cozy. There those leopard flats come making an appearance. And i’m sure it would look cute with the scarf too if I wanted that.

I do understand that not many people probably have this outfit in their closets and it’s not simple, but when I saw this on Pinterest and knew I had some funky leggings, I had to show it. There’s something about funky leggings that can brighten your day and your look. The second picture is me thinking “Ohhh I don’t know if I look completely ridiculous or cute but I like it either way”. There’s that darn denim shirt again. How dare this piece of clothing be so versatile!! 😉 I’m telling you. It does wonders.

Dear Sheaffer, (if you can’t tell I love her blog. she can rock anything. check it out if you haven’t already) yes, I am absolutely, most definitely, positively, one thousand percent crazy MAD FOR PLAID! You nailed your post, and I hope I can do it some justice here. This is also such an easy outfit for a fall day when it’s chilly but not freezing. And check out the totally awesome striped elbow pads on this shirt. Love. I wanted some height to this outfit so I threw on my booties. And the best part is you can accessorize this outfit however you want.

Creepin’ on my Phone + Stella & Dot

We all know that when we first visit someone’s blog we usually click the “About Me” button. We want to know about this person. When we know about this person we have a better understanding of their personality, their goals, their blog, their life, etc. And sometimes we’re just straight up nosy. I know I am. I like to know things and I like to know about other people. I like to “creep” on people…in a normal way, not a stalker way hahah! SO, that being said I thought i’d let ya creep on my most prized and personal possession. My phone!

When I thought about this it was obviously 11:10 yesterday morning, so I went and found my phone wherever it was hiding and took some screenshots. I’m not very good about having  my phone with me sometimes, but usually there’s a text from someone at work asking to pick up a shift…#waitressprobs

And I unlock my phone and this is my home screen. These are the apps that I use most. This is what I love about the iPhone (yes I still have the 4 and am on 3G, but i’m getting a new one soon!) is that you can personalize you apps to how you want it.

My next page are the apps that I use, but not all the time. I like this one because I can see my pictures from Orange Beach this summer. Miss those early beach mornings.

And because I love taking pictures, i’m showing you my camera roll. These are the latest pictures I have. Most of the time I delete my pictures after I put them on my computer because this darn 8G iPhone 4 doesn’t have a lot of space to hold pictures.

And the wonderful Pinterest. I like using it on my computer more than my phone because I can usually see more things at one time, however sometimes there are just days class is stretching out too long and you’ve got to get on Pinterest to make the time go faster.

Pandora! Obviously I listen to multiple kinds of music. Sometimes instead of my iPod I take my phone for Pandora on my runs. Sometimes I turn on Pandora to study. Sometimes I turn on Pandora for some noise. Sometimes I turn on Pandora to jam in the car. I love this FREE app.

Andddddd of course AtBat is on my phone. This is where I keep up with my Red Sox season after season to see News, Standings, Scores, etc. I love the Red Sox and I love baseball.

The Bible app is on my phone. Sometimes when i’m out and about or at school and need some motivation or inspiration i’ll open up my Bible app and look at my verse of the day or read along with the series i’m currently in. But most of the time i’m usually using my Kids’ Bible (of which I absolutely LOVE) because it’s tangible.

And then there’s safari. I don’t have the Facebook app, ’cause I don’t get on as much as I have in the past, but when I do I usually just use safari to do so. I also open up Mix and Match Mama’s recipes on safari if i’m at the store and needing to know what my grocery list is. And then of course checking my grades. That’s really all I use safari for, and it’s funny because this is what was actually on my safari app when I opened it. I didn’t have to change it one bit to take this picture.

Phones are very descriptive of people’s lives. I think you can tell a lot about someone by the contents of their phone. Hopefully you know me a little better, or you just got some pleasure out of “creeping” on my phone!

What’s on…your feet?

Today I’m linking up I thought I was linking up with Andrea for her “what’s on…?” series. However, this morning on her blog was about her cute friend Manda and her battle with cancer. My heart aches for Manda and her family. So, I am praying for her.

Now, when i’m working out, these bad boys (ASICS Women’s GEL-Noosa Tri 9 Running Shoe) are on my feet. And I love them, at first they felt weird and I was unsure about them, but we have grown to get along very well and I realized I wasn’t used to all that padding and support in tennis shoes because I always had nike frees and let’s be honest those are just meant for looks.

I took some pics for ya yesterday for what my feet were sportin’ and…that’d be some sandals. It was kind of warm to me yesterday and when I went to yoga in the morning I wanted something that could be easily taken off.

I got my leopard flip flops (I know it is hard to tell) a long time ago, and i’m actually trying to replace them because I use them so dang much, i’m considering this cute pair though!

As I was looking last night, I saw that there is a HUGE SALE going on right now for heels and flats at Target!! And what better timing than fall/before Christmas???

October Pin-spired: Booties and Bluejeans

Now that it’s finally October, we will officially be getting into fall clothes. I’ve been wearing some fall clothes even when our weather is in the 80s, but it will be sooooo much better with the cooler, crisp weather. Like Monday registered 85 degrees in my car and guess what I wore?

BOOTIES AND BLUE JEANS!!!!

(funny story…Avery, the little one I nanny, saw I typed “booties” into my phone and asked why I was looking for butts..oh honey, wait ’til you get older and learn the more important definition of bootie)

So, I saw all kinds of pictures of booties on Pinterest.

And I was just overloaded with cuteness, that I had to go see what the fuss was about….

I have a couple pairs of booties, but only black. My shoe collection is sadly nothing to be proud of, however, it is growing!!!!

Sorry this second picture below is so blurry, but these I just had to try first…guess what the name was? Molly! They remind me of combat boots, but in bootie style. They really stuck out to me when I was looking at shoes to try on.

This pair was what I think of when I think of booties. Just a normal ol’ black pair of short ankle boots that look fantastic with bluejeans rolled up!

I personally thought these booties were perfect for a little extra height, and they didn’t feel uncomfortable. I like that they had padding under the toes as well and the lace-up front. These would be SO CUTE in the cognac color too.

These however, were my absolute favorite of all the booties I tried on. They were so comfortable and so easy to wear.

And do you know what I really like about booties? My faaaaavorite thing? No? Okay, i’ll tell you. They can be worn during all four seasons…cue the angel chorus! Just tell me how adorable these girls look with their skirts/dresses/shorts and booties for spring and summer. Love. It.
